Rutherford County Welcomes Back the 8th Annual Middle School Basketball State Championships

The eighth annual TSSAA Middle School Basketball State Championships were held this past weekend in Rutherford County, with games played at Stewarts Creek High School, Stewarts Creek Middle School, Rockvale High School, and Rockvale Middle School. The tournament brought together the four sectional champions in each classification for two days of state competition. Semifinal contests tipped off Friday evening, with third-place and championship games concluding the event on Saturday.

In Class A girls action, South Lawrence Middle School captured the state title with a 40-28 win over Lake Road Middle School. Rush Strong School secured third place after defeating Adamsville Middle School 55-33.

On the boys side in Class A, Bolivar Middle School claimed the championship with a 62-56 victory over Summertown Middle School. Hampton Elementary School earned third place with a 50-46 win against Humboldt Middle School.

In Class AA girls play, Gatlinburg-Pittman Junior High School claimed the state championship with a 25-18 victory over E.O. Coffman Middle School. Prescott South Middle School secured third place by defeating Dyersburg Middle School 53-46.

In the Class AA boys division, Prescott South Middle edged Bellevue Middle School 33-25 to capture the championship, while Gatlinburg-Pittman earned third place with a 53-47 win over Fairview Middle School.

In Class AAA girls competition, West Valley Middle School earned the championship with a 38-24 victory over Mt. Juliet Middle School. Upperman Middle School secured third place with a 51-24 win against Snowden School.

On the boys side in Class AAA, Elmore Park Middle School captured its fourth consecutive state championship with a 60-28 win over Sevier County Middle School. Mt. Juliet Middle clinched third place with a 42-33 victory against Oakland Middle School.
