69 schools and 480 athletes competed for team and individual honors at the TMSAA Cross Country State Championships on Saturday, October 5. Runners completed the two-mile course during one of four championship races held at Weakley Park, a former 9-hole golf course actively being converted into a park by Montgomery County.

In Class A, Lake Road Middle School earned the team title for the girls, led by Olivia Underwood's first place finish in 12:33.40. Merrol Hyde Middle School repeated as the boys' team champions, with Parker Breitling winning the individual title in 10:40.57.

In Class AA, both Liberty Bell Middle School girls and Mt. Juliet Middle School boys won their 3rd straight team championships. Cleveland Middle School's Estella Clemmons earned the girls' individual championship in 12:06.21. Will Skinner of Collierville Middle School finished first in the boys' race with a time of 10:59.45.

Austin Peay State University's cross country team assisted with the event, along with Visit Clarksville staff and volunteers. Janet Wilson, Director of Sports Tourism for Visit Clarksville, estimates over 2000 in attendance for the event. "We love hosting this event and were excited to be able to move it to Weakley Park this year. We look forward to welcoming TMSAA teams and their families to Clarksville for years to come."
