On May 20-21, the TMSAA hosted state championships in 3 sports. The second annual Baseball and Softball State Championships were held at Drakes Creek Park in Sumner County, while the 6th annual Track & Field State Championships took place at Franklin High School in Williamson County.
In baseball, semifinal games in Class A and AA were played Friday, with consolation and championship games on Saturday. Liberty Bell Middle won 4-3 over Spring Station Middle in the Class AA championship game. Mt. Juliet Middle defeated Lakeland Prep 6-1 in the 3rd place game. For the Class A title, South Lawrence Middle earned an 11-0 sweep over Ridgeview Elementary. Three Oaks Middle came out on top of Athens City Middle 12-2 for 3rd place.

Class A & AA softball teams fought it out in semifinal games on Friday and championship and consolation games on Saturday. In Class AA, Stewarts Creek Middle defeated Ross N. Robinson Middle 16-8 for the championship. In the 3rd place game, Mt. Juliet Middle came out on top of Munford Middle 13-11. Cherokee Middle defeated Three Oaks Middle 10-5 to earn 3rd place in Class A. The Class A championship game extended into Sunday morning due to weather. In the end, Unicoi Co. Middle claimed the title with an 8-5 victory over Highland Rim-Fayetteville.

In Track & Field, individual state champions were crowned for girls and boys in Class A and Class AA in four field events and nine running events. Legacy Middle School took home the team championship trophy for Class A Girls, with Lake Road Middle School earning girls' runner-up honors. On the Class A Boys' side, Bellevue Middle School won the championship with Alcoa Middle School named the boys' runners-up. In Class AA, the West Collierville Middle School girls' and Mt. Juliet Middle School boys' teams were crowned champions, with the Hardin Valley girls and the Ridgeway boys securing the runner-up spots. In total, athletes from 130 member middle schools competed in the 2022 State Meet.
